The primary genre you select at the start of any SmartZip© Form can make quite a difference in how not only your promotion might turn out but your whole promotion purchase experience with HotZippy as well.

You should always know the "primary" genre of your book.  For instance, if you've written a Time-Traveling Romance book, the primary genre of your book is Romance, with a secondary of Science Fiction; not Science Fiction with a secondary of Romance.  It is important to be true to your genre when marketing to readers.  Incompetently or purposefully misleading readers with a cover and book description that points one way and an actually story that falls completely to another side can lead to bad reviews and later trouble trying to get book promotion companies to take you seriously.

Our editors are always on guard for genre-shifting titles.  In such a case where an author promotes his heavy dark fantasy novel on Pixelscroll, the same author, in an attempt to market to more people might then claim the book is more romance than dark fantasy in order to run a promotion on Romance eBook Deals.  Genre-shifting is frowned upon by our company and its sites' editors.

You should simply pick the most appropriate genre from our form's lists--the one that most identifies with your product and is most identifiable by our readers.

To be considered for our genre-specific sites, you will have to choose the basest genre and then later you will be given an opportunity to select a more specific sub-genre during the submission process.
